I´m dying to start my pages about 2011 for my Year-in-review album, but I haven´t had the time and I still need a photo. Last year this time of year I had finished the pages for 2010 and I was so sad that I had to wait a whole year to do such pages again and now "suddenly" I´m here again!

Three mager events, two weddings and a birth, took place and a whole lot of other things, so I really look forward to doing that.

Here´s a photo that shows what I´m longer for... It´s from my garden book where I tell about plans and progress aso. Gardening and scrapbooking, what a lovely combination!

Welcome

Almost a year ago our little cat died and first we didn´t intend to have a new one, but six month ago Kit-Kat became a member of our family. He came the Week-in-the-life week so he´s been documented there, but I also wanted to tell a little more about him.

Here´s the Welcome page...

I was so glad I had the tree sticker because the first day he was allowed outside he was so exited. After having sniffed around for awile he began running like crazy! Up one of the big trees, down again, over the lawn and up another tree and so on. It was so fun watching him.

This other layout is about his first meetings with the nabour cats.

They both thought that our yard was theirs so they were kind of bosy towards Kit-Kat. When they didn´t stop, but wanted to fight him all the time Miss I and I got quite angry with them and started to spray water on them... That helped for awile but they got the same lesson everytime they came back!

10 on the 10th

Inspired by Laura I have made a list of my 10 "simple" tools I use when I scrapbook.

1. Camera. I have a quite old, small camera, but it´s didgital and it works for me.

2. Computer. I share a computer with my children. For photos and inspiration.

3. Trimmer. It tock me years before I bought a trimmer, thought I could do without it and I could, of cause, but its much faster with it.

4. Sissors. All kinds.

5. Pens. Maybe not strictly a tool...? But the story is most important to me so they had to be there, right? And I always write by hand.

6. Punches. A big square and a couple of different circles.

7. Tweezers. So much easier to handle those small things with those than with your fingers.

8. Ruler. Especialy for minialbums and such things.

9. Stamps. Mostly smaller alphabet stamps.

10. Stapler. Both practical and decorative.

Little things I like

Today school started again after the Christmas break, but my boy is still home, he had some rashes so I keep him home to see what will happen to them. The girls wasn´t that thrilled about going back to school...

One of my favorite flowers around Christmas is hyacinths. I read something from someone who does NOT like them and that person called them ugly and with a terrible smell! Isn´t it funny how different we see things. I had two hyacinths in the livingroom during Christmas, but they are gone now, but I bought two new ones and I have them in my craftroom and they spead this wonderful scent in the whole room and I absolutly love it!

I´ve bought some films on sale lately and one I really liked is Letters to Juliet. I´ve already seen it a lot of times, that´s how I am with things I love. So this one I very much recommend. One of the others I only saw a bit of before I throw it away...

ER is now stating to be available on DVD too, but I don´t want to pay full price for it so I´ve been waiting and now I found the first season to a reduced price so I bought it and it will give me many hours of enjoyment. Especially since I´ve never seen say about the first half of the series.

My two final pages for my Christmas album, Dec 31st and Jan 1st, and now it´s all packed away.

New Years Eve. It included a 3 hour drive to get to Mrs S and family, meeting my newest grandchild for the first time and going to a party in the evening. This window frame worked really well for all those different things. Isn´t that baby sticker adorable?! It´s almost as sweet as Little B!!

New Years Day. It was a Sunday and therefore churchday and the big event was the blessing of Little B. We don´t baptise children until they are eight years old, but they are given their name and a blessing as babies. This funny little stamp was perfect for this occation.

My thought with this album was that I should be able to have several years in it, those years when I didn´t feel up to making a page every day, but as it gets quite bulky it will only hold one more year.

Now I will order some more photos! See you!

On the to-do-list for today is making pages for Dec 31st and Jan 1st for my Christmas album and they will both be about little B, mostly anyway. And since the weather is so mild I feel a craving for going out in the garden to do some digging... Not the usual thing you do on Jan 2nd here!!

But right now I thought that I should pick out my favourite layouts from 2011 and give you a Top 10 list, so here we go.

My titlepage for Week in the life.

Last drive home from pre-school. I love picures taken of the road while driving.

A non-photo page made as a stressrelease and a rememberance of a special day. Full of nice things.

Waiting for a baby.

A scraplift of my own page Last drive from pre-school, where I chose a similare photo. I was really pleased with this page and still love it.

Scripture study before school. I love all kinds of brownish cardstock as background for my pages.

My second take on Shimelle´s 6x4 photolove for October made me pleased.

Back to school 2011.

Summing up spring. I like these layouts full of photos with just a little embellishments when telling about our family´s activities. Since we are quite a number it takes a lot of photos to tell the whole story.

And finally a bright and sunny layout, perfect for spring and a bright and sunny girl.

I always make a Year-in-rewiew each year and take much pleasure in doing it and I so vividly remember thinking last year how sad it was that I had to wait a whole year till I could do it again and now I only have one question - where did that year go?!

I have just come home from visiting Mrs S and her family over the weekend. Little B was given his name and a blessing by his father at church today. He is such a darling! I am so blessed that I`m fortunate enough to be a grandmother.

Starting school

In 1 1/2 week the schools will start again after the christmas break, but I have just made a couple of back to school layouts from when the children started school i August. They looks like this.

This is about all of them. I´m really pleased with it, like the borderstickers here.

This picture´s a little bit blurry... It´s about Master E beginning first grade. I had had the paperstrip with the numbers for years, waiting for just this moment and now that it´d come I didn´t like it anymore! BUT, I had kept it all this time and hence I should use it! I made it less visible by stamping and putting a journaling spot over it. In the end I was quite OK with it.

Lesson to be learned - don´t keep things forever, use them while you still love them.

I hope you all had a nice Christmas, I did. Since we have our big Christmas celebration on the 24th, my page for the 25th came to be about the birth of Christ. It looks like this.I talk about the fact that he really wasn´t born on Dhristmas day, but in spring, and that I´m a kind of person who´s not into pretending what I know isn´t true, but that I try very much to remember and follow him every day of the year.

I think I will only make two more pages in this album, New Years Eve and New Years Day.

I like my new tree stamp so much I´m sad that I have to put it aside now that Christmas is over, but I´m thinking of having it as a background for all my numbers in next years album. I plan on doing a bigger album then so that would work fine. Here´s a close up of the tree on my Christmas eve page. I LOVE it!! Isn´t it a nice feeling when you have made something that you are really pleased with?!

My internet conection isn´t very good at the moment, but if I can I will be back this week with some newly made layouts that is not about Christmas. Hope to see you soon!

Merry Christmas everyone! Today is our big day and we have had a nice day with my in-laws here and love and joy all around. Everyone also got some presents we really liked.

I made my page from one of the downcuts I made from the Websters pages paper and since it was already heavyly decorated I just added the title and the date and some journaling. I tucked the programme behind the page.

Two pages from the beginning of the week.

This is our Christmas letter. I actually printed and sent it out on the 13th, but, as you will see, there where only so much I could sqeez in on that day, so I gave it the day before, it really doesn´t matter.

I stapled a strip of transparency to tuck the letter behind so as much as possibly could be seen of it.

My oldest daughter´s due dath was on the 10th but the little man arrived on the 13th, the Lucia day here in Sweden. So he got place #1 for the day, of course, and on the backside is the Lucia celebrations that the children had at their schools.

Today is gonna be a baking day, I´ve promised the children homemade hamburgers for dinner, so I will make bread for that and I will also make some bread for Christmas and also some cookies. And I have to vacum the house, so busy, busy!!

Dec 7th and 8th

Two days about the Christmas tree. The first one is about me going into our backyard sawing down the tree and how much I like the possibility to be able to do this. I had the oppertunaty to use my new tree stamp and so enjoyed it. I tried to get one last year but didn´t succed but now I have one and I´m so glad.

Yeasterday we put up the tree and decorated some more. I wanted the two pages to feel like a unit so I used the same journaling spots and numbers and white backgrounds.

Not a single photo, as seems to be the case with most days in this album, but I wanted the tree stamp to dominate on the 7th and I just "had" to have the beautyful picture of the tree on the 8th. If you want to see some actual photos scroll down!

A page about a memory from the past. My oldest daughter was always so worried that I wouldn´t be ready with all the preperations before Christmas eve, when she was little. That was so sweet.

Now she´s 28 and her due date is in two days... Her first child and we are so exited.

I really wanted the picture of the Christmas scen to be part of this page and i wanted the photo of my girl too, but first I didn´t know how to combine them in a nice way. But I´m very pleased with how it turned out. Isn´t this an amazing hobby that make you feel pleased over and over again?! (We don´t care about the other times right now!)

I had the oppertunaty to do some things for my fellow men this wekend and made this page about it. It´s called In the spirit of Christmas, since doing something for someone else truely are just that.

It was three things hence the 1 2 3, and since it also was the 3rd I put some red paper behind the 3 (I think that was quite clever of me...) to give it a double function. And since two of the three things involved sewing I got some good use for some of my sewing embelishments. I also used embroidery yarn to decorate the heart and fasten the ribbon on the journaling spot. I hid the journaling behind the "wooden spole".

My page for today is already done, but I have to admit, I cheated, I started yesterday, I just couldn´t help myself!! The paper is one of those I precut and it´s a Websters pages´ that I´ve cut in four. Even though it is quite full as it is and also very beautyful, still you want to embellish it yourself and make it your own and I´m quite pleased with the way it turned out.

It tells about my wish list to myself for the Season, that I want joy and peace and people I love.

Now I´ll dive into my textiles to try and find something nice for a simple baby quilt that I will make for a woman at church! Have a wonderful day!

One guilt less

Being ten persons in our family there have been quite a lot of papers collected during our family´s almost 30 years and all these papers has been a guilty conscience for many years. But the last days I have been sorting all these things and that resulted in all these binders full of offical documents, drawings and you name it!

Now there is actually a chance that we might look at these, the chance of doing that when everything is just lying in a total mess in boxes is not that big. There is still one box full of cards and letters, which is not so easaly stored in binders. Found some really funny things, like the note someone wrote telling us that we were ruin there summer break when we asked them to clean there rooms... It´s such a lovely thing looking back at when the children where younger.

Among all these papers I also found these...

I got these when I was a child/youth. Someone has croched them and you where suppost to put them between the cup and the saucer when you where having a party. I never drank coffey befor I joined the church and after I have yet another reason not to drink it so these have never been used.

But someone has put in a lot of work making them and what does a scrapbooker think when she stands there with these lovely things in her hand...? They are perfekt for my albums, aren´t they, REAL doilies?! And they are specially perfect for a Christmas album don´t you think?! Be sure to see one or two of them there.

My first page

I´ve done my first page for my Christmas album! It´s from yesterday, observing two things, that it was the first Sunday of Advent and that we at church had the yearly tradition that all the children where the ones singing and talking at the sacrament meeting. They were so wonderful and there was such a lovely spirit.

I´ve just fixed the advent candles for tomorrow and this year it looks like this. Miss E just told me it looks nice, so that feel good.

These number plates I bought two years ago, after Christmas and last year when I should use them I couldn´t find them... And last December I bought a new Advent candleholder, for thin candles, which was so very nice and guess what, this year I can´t find that one...
Well, it´s the story of my life! But now I can enjoy these plates and hopefully during the next year I will find the candleholder so I can enjoy that next Advent. Life (and my own weaknesses) have tought me patience and that there will always be another time, and if there shouldn´t, well, I´ll survive anyway.

I do wish you all a most lovely Advent time and hope you will enjoy it and not kill yourselves by overdoing.

Pink

How about a pink layout today, far away from Christmas? As you may know, I´m not a fan of bright pink, but lighter pink is nice. I bought three of this pink ledger from Pink Paislee (suitable, don´t you think?) because I wanted one to use myself, have one for Miss I (she´s the one of my at-home-girls that scrapbook) and have the other to cut up for other projects.

This is a layout about Miss I´s 12th birthday, which for us in the church is one of those big birthdays, since you at that age go from the children´s organisation to the youth´s, and they are always happy to do that.

First what I think is my favorite from 2008. It´s very simple but I love the photo, the tabed page and everything.

The next is my favorite page from 2010. Besides the fact that it´s my sweet boy on the photo I also love the paper and the adorable journaling spot from Webster´s pages. I also like the letters that I made myself. The photo was taken at the Lucia celebration at school.

Just a few days left and I will start my album for this year, yay!

I like divided pockets a lot. Here I got two different happenings the same day that I wanted to document and what better way of doing it that this?

And here´s the back.

This one I wanted you to be able to see through, which is very nice but also require that you do it nice on both sides. Here´s the back of it. The journaling tags and the letter stickers I stuck on the outside of the pocket.

I will definetly use these in this years album too.

More Christmas album favorites

Here are some favorite pages from last years Christmas album.

Love the background paper on the left side and I love the homemaker-figure on the right side. I thought about having one of those for my Little book of lists but I changed my mind, she didn´t really fit in there.

Sometimes it can be too much red and green, but having it on kraft cardstock it didn´t get overwhelming. Loving letter stickers, as I do, I´m very fond of this title and the tree is nice. Envelopes is always lovely, of course.

Anything I wasn´t pleased with? Well, the numbers were too boring and didn´t fit in on all my pages. That´s the problem with premade things and thats why I don´t want to do a lot of stuff in advance this year.

A little book of lists

I don´t think I´ve ever made two post the same day here at the blog, but I just had to show you a small booklet I just made to have as a home for my to-do-lists at Christmas time. I will use it for my lists while I´m working on them and after Christmas they will have a new home in my album and I can use this book for new lists next year.

I used some old chipboard flowers/stars to embellish the outside. I´ve hade them for years and never found a home for them, until now.

On the left is my list for the Christmas presents where I can tick off when I´m ready with the present/s for specific persons and on the right my list for other things I should buy.

These pages is both kitchen related. The left one is for the list of all the kinds of foods we want to have on our table at Christmas and on the right it´s all about yummi things like cookies and sweets we want to make.

I really love this little album that I made in 2008. Love the tabs and the size and everything. Here´s more of it.

Isn´t the fact that you can only choose one way of doing things the worst part of any project?! You have to drop all the other lovely ideers you have. I´d love to use these lovely tabed pages again but they don´t fit with what I´m doing this year or with what I hope I will do NEXT Christmas. Life sure is hard...

I did it!

At least, that´s what I think. I´m done with my new take on Shimelles sketch with the big pocket and I really like it. Here are som pictures of it.

Concidering the problem I had with the bold patterned paper on my last try on this, at first I intended to go with a green cardstock for the base, but when I was searching for a patterned paper to ground the two photos on the front, I found this applepaper and that would be perfect for a school page so I gave it a try. It would be a victory to be able to do something with a bold patterned paper that I could be pleased with.

I also decided to use a transparency for the pocket, like Shimelle did and this white was visable but still not to dominating. I keeped the embelishments really simple and put the title on the photomat not to make it too buzy on the left where you can see the page through the transparecy.

All in all, I´m very pleased. Glad that I kind of erased my failure with the first page. Maybe that´s a new idee, to go back and take back where you are not satisfied with the result, and make a new try on the same idee.

And I cried again

Yesterday was release day for the last Harry Potter movie DVD and I got it in the mail AND of course I had to watch it. And I cried again, just like I did when I saw it at the theater. I cried at some moving scenes but most of all I cried at the end, feeling again how sad it is that this is the end. I so much love the world of Harry Potter. I think I also cries because I`m so happy that the three friends still are friends many years later. That´s so beautyful.

Pleased and not pleased

Sometimes you´re pleased with what you do and sometimes you´re not!

I thought that Shimelle´s idee with a big pocket for more photos was such a good idee and I thought that would be perfect for Christmas photos. But then I sat down to scrap the photos when Master E had his birthday party and I thought this was a great idee for all those photos too. But... I wasn´t at all pleased with the result. I certanily don´t plame the idee, no it was all me. Me and bold patterned papers do not go well together... As you can see for your selves here. It was just too much.

Just to comfort myself I did something that really is me and which I also was very pleased with...

This is about how we read the scripures every morning before the children go to school.

But just to show to myself that I´m not totally hopeless I´m already working on a new layout with the big pocket, AND with a bold patterned paper, I think, if I don´t change my mind... Wish me luck!!

Shimelle talked about different stages of preparing your album and asked us to at least pecut som papers. I had already put some papers together and they are these...

My little banner

So it´s Christmas at Shimelle´s this weekend and I loved her challenge to make a banner. I´ve made a very tiny little one to fit my 6x6 Christmas album and here it is!

This is actually about the real size of it. "JUL" is our swedish word for Christmas, very convenient to have such a short word! The red and yellow squares and the mittens are from a REALLY old Provo Craft line, it´s like ten years old or something. I adore the mittens and haven´t had the heart to use them earlier (I´m sure you all know that feeling!). The small Christmas tree I cut out by hand and I`m really pleased with it.

Titel page 2011

The titel page for this year made me think, since it will show behind the album´s titel page. But eventually I figured out how I was going to do it and here´s the final result.

I didn´t want too much to be shown behind the album titel page but I didn´t want it to be totally emty either. This is how it looks when you open the album.

You can see the page a little closer up on this picure.

The calender tag is again from a Swedish line. The same paper that I have behind the tag I also put in the little pocket where the holes are, I will put paper there on all the pages. When I had made the whole tag thing and chosen the strip of music paper it looked a little bit to dull and I wanted a little more black to accent the year and the circle on the tag, so I made the thin black strip and put two rub ons by the tag and I was very pleased with that. Black could actually turn out to be an accent colour on all the pages.

Since my Christmas album will be for several years I will have one title page for the entire album and title pages for the different years. I have now finished the title page, or rather title pages, since it´s a front and a back page, for the album. It looks like this.

This is the front page and here is the back...

I like that the page is is a die cut shape so that you will be able to see the titlepage for the year behind it.
The front says Merry Christmas and the back Memories from December.

A long wait

I have now read Austenland by Shannon Hale and all I can say is that it´s gonna be a long wait for the film... I do hope it will go up in the theaters here, otherwise it will be an even longer wait for the DVD. Sigh. Keri Russell and J J Feild are already playing their parts in my head when I read the book.

Madhouse

Madhouse, that´s what Mrs S called our house the other day. She was home for almost a week and Mrs L and all the family has been home for five days, so the house has been full of teenagers and children. And Mrs S is not used to this kind of familylife anymore. But I guess this is just how it used to be every day earlier.

We´ve had a lot of boys being absorbed by the videogames,

girls giggeling

and children being children...

Wednesday was a really busy day with my in-laws being here, we all celebraiting their wedding (since Mrs S and Mrs L couldn´t come ealier), a baby to-come and a bunch of birthdays gone and coming.
We had a small baby shower for Mrs S, with just the girls in our own family

and I and my big girls went thrift shop shopping after the celebration. And found some nice things.

Yesterday when everyone thought that someone else was looking after her, this little angel got a few minutes on her own to have some fun with the eggs, which of cause ended up in a total mess...

But how can you get angry with such a small and sweet little darling? We are totally sweet on her and her brother, it´s such a lovely thing being called Grandma and Grandpa.

Mrs S went home yesterday. It was the first time she and Mr T had been apart for such a long time. I´m so glad she has such a wonderful "home" to come home to. I took one last photo of her before she went, well, it was more of the sweet "bump" actually...

We are all really curiouse of who´s in there.

Today all the others are going home. I´m so glad that we are all such good friends, I truely both love and like my family!

Jordärtskockor

Nu är våra jordärtskockor skördade. Vi har ju odlat två olika sorter, Bianca, som är den som hinner blomma här, och en annan sort, som jag inte har något namn på.

Idag kokte vi av båda för att kunna jämföra smaken. De är goda att äta råa också och då var Bianca klart godare, den är sötare. Men när de är kokta så föredrog jag den andra sorten för det är mer smak i den, medan maken nog föredrog Bianca här också.

Så nästa år kommer vi att odla båda sorterna igen och betydligt mer än de fyra plator vi odlade i år!

En liten koriositet, stammarna på Bianca är röda men knölarna är vita, stammarna på den andra sorten var gröna, men knölarna är röda.

Too much colour

I like colour on my pages, that is not any news to anyone who knows me, so it kind of surprised me when I found myself thinking "Oh, too much colour!" about some scrapbookpages I´ve seen in magazines. Now why would I think like that?! And then the answer came to my mind "It´s the pink!" I don´t like pink, at least not most, sertainly not bright ones. A little soft pink here and there kan be nice though.

Let´s search my albums for some really me!

I love green! Green is my absolut favorite scrapbooking colour.

Red and yellow are also favorites of mine. And brown.

And tan and kraft is really nice backgrounds. And a splash of blue is nice.

How come I like even bright pink flowers?! Well, I don´t even have a good answer myself to that one. Colour is so much emotion, so I guess we just can´t exlain it all.

More Christmas album stuff

Here are a few little somethings that might make it in to my Christmas album.

The small tags on the right says "Merry Christmas" in swedish, I think they are so cute. It´s hard to see but one of them has a Christmas tree on it, maybe perfect for the day when we put up the tree? And the one at the bottom might be nice for Christmas eve.

Here´s another one with softer colours.

Out of these I think that the one with the tree all dressed up will for sure be in the album. And if there will be snow (I doubt that it will not, but you can always hope!!) some of the others will probably be used too, most likely the one on the bottom right.

Just a little more than a moth to go - yay!!

The last flowers

Picked this beautyful little sunflowers today. In fall, like in spring, you rejoys in much smaller things than in summer when everyting is in such aboundance. Because of this I think seasons is such a good thing for us humans, they make us much more grateful.

I have a little tip too. This movie is so wonderful! If you haven´t seen it, please do! I tells the tale of Beatrix Potter´s life, the mother of Peter Rabbit. It´s kind of sad, but at the same time hopeful. It´s english, of cause, with such good actors. Great Britain has so MANY extraodinary actors, you never stops to marvel about it.

I just love The Flying Doctors! I´ve watched them for decades and they are truely my good old friends. And now, finally, the series have come on DVD so I am slowly collecting them all.

They used to be shown on TV in the afternoon here for years and my youngest daughter would always sigh and say "not again" when she came home from school and found me sitting in front of the TV, since her mother never stopped enjoying watching them... But now I can meet with them whenever I want and Miss I can have the TV to herself, not that they have been showing it on TV for years, though...

Take one

Shimelle´s friend SJ has a little challenge on her blog which she calls Take one. I think it´s a very nice one. It´s about looking through your own scrapbooks and choose one favorite layout and let yourself be inspired by it and take one thing from that layout and transfer that one thing to a new layout.

I chose this layout...

and the one thing I took from it was the photo of the road. I really like such photos and I happened to have another one, taken on the same road, but from the other side of our home. We live right were the road ends in this picure, up to the left. And when you come from the other direction there is this other smaller road leading up to our house and that´s what´s seen in the photo on this new layout.

The first layout is about me driving my boy home from the nersery for the last time, after him going there three times a week for two years and in the fall he would go to pre-school and ride with the school bus.

The second layout is about how happy I always am to turn on to the road leading to my home when I´ve been away.

I love the original layout and I love the new one too, they´re both very much me.

Christmas-ready

Well, at least my small Christmas album is done, so now I just have to wait for the first Sunday of Advent. It´s just 6 weeks come this week end. Yay!

My album is a 6x6 American Crafts album, my favorite album and here´s how I´ve transformed it.

I painted all the edges both on the outside and the inside, like this....

...and then I glued patterned paper on the inside like this.

This is the front. The paper is a swedish brand with different words and phrases that´s Christmas related. The back has the same paper.

This paper is a cut from a 12x12 paper from Bo Bunny.

The white heart is metal and I bought it last Christmas in a decorating shop. "God Jul" means Merry Christmas.The green ribbon goes around to the back too. The little closter is better seen in this picture.

The big button is an old one I found in a thrift store once, the metal one I bought new. Both of the buttons and the cute little charm is threaded with linen yarn.

I very much like my little album and it will be a joy to fill it. I won´t do an everyday effort this year though, just on those days that I want to and feel I have something to say. Maybe I end up doing most days, who knows, but I don´t want to have any pressure on me doing something for every day. And the thought with this album is that it shall last for several Christmases, the years I intend to do an everday-thing I will do a seperat album, it´s fun doing that every once in a while.

Small things around the house

Just wanted to show you this and that in my world right now.

My in-laws gave me this wonderful pumpkin. I love pumkins but the ones I grew this year was quite a failure so that´s kind of sad. But that made me so much happier for the one I was given.

This is what you can see in my kitchen window right now, one beautyful flower and a plate with seeds I´ve taken from my flowers in the garden, they are lying there to dry before I put them away ´till spring.

My one and only corner just for beauty... Most of the space in our house is just for needs, but this little corner is for beauty and I´m so happy about it. The small figures looks like this...

I found it in a shop shortly after our daughter had died and it looked just like her and her little brother. She now being our little angel and whatching over her beloved little brother. I cried right there in the shop when I saw it. It is one of my most presued things.

This is my new calender for next year. Isn´t it wonderful?!

It looks like this on the inside. I like that it doesn´t look buisnesslike. I just need a little one to keep track of our private things and I didn´t need such a fine one but being a scrapbooker I couldn´t but see what a lovely little minibook it could be made into in 2013!!

I resently bought this book...

..when I really wanted something new to read. I had wanted to read his books for a while, since I so much like the two films made from his books that I´ve seen, Message in a bottle and Dear John.

So what did I think about it? Well, the story was good, the people easy to sympatice with, but still it didn´t touch my heart. I really don´t know why, but I guess it has something to do with his writing. But on the other hand many people like his books, so maybe it´s me, I don´t know.

Since I so much like the movie Dear John I really have wanted to read the book, so when I saw it at the bookstore yesterday I actually read the end of it there (shame on me!) and I´m glad I did, for the ending wasn´t as in the movie, that is happy and I want happy endings!! I guess the movie Message in a bottle is more true to the book since it ends bad too... But even if it does, the rest of the movie is so very good that I still like it. But I just couldn´t stand if Dear John had ended as in the book, those two people touched me such much that I´d be cruched if they didn´t end up together in the end!! The actors are so very good, they make your heart brake.

I´m quite sad that I didn´t like the book, since I really wanted to find something new to like, but not much to do about it. I will make a go for In Austenland by Shannon Hale next, I believe that will be in my tast.

Sunshine girl

Here´s my sunshine girl on her 14th birthday.

14 is an interesting age... People change and kind of like becomes another person. But I´m lucky, for even though my girl is not really like she use to be she´s still such a lovely girl and tries really hard to be good. I´m so glad I´ve chosen to be a stay-at-home mom with all my kids, so that when they grow up we´re not not used to talk to each other. I love my children, they´re such nice people. I am truely blessed.

Dressing up my book

Some time ago I made a book from scratch, inspired by the Smash books. Not that it´s very much like a smash book, but still, that´s how it started. You can see the base here.

I used my husbands drill to make the holes in the cover and that didn´t really go the way I wanted to, so it´s not as nice as I´d wish... I think I want a Crop-a-dile for Christmas!!

Now I have decorated all the white pages with different patterned paper, some of them really old. Since the width of both the pages together are more than 12" (30,5 cm) I had to be creative with some matching papers, but I think that only makes it more interesting. I´m really pleased with the result so far. Now I just have to figure out what to use it for!!!

My starting page. Doesn´t look much now but here I have it all figured out what to do.

I knew right away that this house would go here, it was part of the original planning. I have some other things that also has a special home in this book but haven´t been put in place yet. Here I obviously will talk about home in some way.

Here I used a strip from a My Minds Eye paper as decoration. This will be something about my family.

The paper continue on the next spread, that´s kind of nice.

I have some page protectors here and there in the book too and I´ve put some more neutral papers on the pages surrounding them, so it won´t be too difficult matching what´s in the page protectors with these papers.

This has to be something about writing, don´t you think?

This is a paper I really love (I love sunflowers) but it´s so hard to use on a page for me. How I will sort that thing out here is yet to be seen... The same goes for the paper below, as well as the blue, red and cream some pages down.

And since this paper has a dress pattern on it it has to be something about sewing here.

Here I made a pocket on the right, to put "something" in, I have no idee yet as to what that someting will be.

And here´s the last page. I´m not sure I will do anything here at all, it kind of speaks for itself.

Starting point

When I scrapbook happenings my starting point is always the photos. This is documenting the happenings in our lives and I want to show as much as possible of the people and the scenery. We have lived in some different places and having the homes and surroundings showing in all those photos means a lot to us. It helps us remember. So a lot of photos is almost always the thing on these layouts and with a lot of photos the embellishments stands back.

Here is my latest such layout, about my daughter and son-in-law making a beautyful fens in our garden last easter. They used a whole day doing this and the result was great, just what I wanted. It screens off the new vegetable growings from the other part of the garden.

This week has been really lovely, summer came back for a few days. It´s been wonderful. Getting these days of sun will mean a lot when winter is here.

Stepping it up

I´m working on photos from last spring and just made a double spread from easter and I thought I should just leave it quite simple, just adding some journaling on the right hand page as it is seen on this picture.

But I changed my mind and decided to step it up a bit and I added both different journaling labels and other embellishments, so in the end it looked like this.

I am quite pleased with it the way it ended up. A lot of October Afternoon, of course...

Idag var jag så självisk att jag köpte mig en alldeles egen mugg och en alldeles egen liten frukostskål. Om man känner mig lite så förstår man varför när man ser dem.

Jag älskar den här gröna färgen och jag älskar prickigt. Knappt 30:- för båda på ICA Maxi tyckte jag var överkomligt.

Jag köpte mig också en bok, nämligen den här:

Har ju ett tag velat läsa något av honom, eftersom jag sett två filmer gjorda efter hans böcker, Message in a bottle och Dear John, som båda är väldigt bra. Så det ska bli väldigt roligt att läsa honom för första gången, även om roligt förmodligen inte är det rätta ordet för hans böcker.

Är rädd att det kommer att bli som alltid när jag läser något jag verkligen gillar, att allt annat blir lidande för att jag inte kan lägga ifrån mig boken... I värsta fall får jag göra det som brukar vara min lösning på det här dilemmat, att läsa slutet så att jag får ro att läsa det andra!!

Även tråkiga jobb måste göras

Ibland skjuter man på en del jobb bara för att de inte är sådär väldigt roliga. Ett som jag har skjutit på länge nu är att sy överdrag till ett par skumgummimadrasser, som används ganska flitigt här, när kompisar sover över t ex. Det är ett typiskt sånt jobb som man aldrig känner någon inspiration till utan som man helt enkelt får ta tag i och göra när man inte känner ett direkt motstånd mot det...

Så de två senaste dagarna har jag faktiskt gjort det. Känner mig så duktig! Inte för att jag har gjort ett supersnyggt jobb (för så långt sträckte sig inte icke-motståndet!) utan för att det helt enkelt blivit gjort. Det skulle kunna vara lite bättre passform på dem, men å andra sidan är de lättare att sätta på om de inte är för tajta. Och en av tankarna var att de ska vara lätta att ta av och tvätta.

Jag har varit en tygsamlare under många år, framförallt har jag köpt på mig tyger på Myrorna och liknande ställen. Ibland har jag också köpt tyger när jag hittat nåt sådär riktigt superbilligt. Och en del av de här har blivit liggande i massor av år och nu bestämde jag mig för att de var perfekt till detta projekt. Vad spelar det för roll hur madrasserna ser ut? Möjligtvis delar inte dottern, som har madrasserna stående i sitt rum, eftersom det är hon som mest använder dem, min åsikt...

Den blåvita är inte riktigt färdig måste fixa lite tampar så att jag kan knyta igen den också, men jag beslöt mig för att gå ut när solen sken mellan regskurarna och rensa bort allt ogräset som växte i min persiljebädd. Vi odlar en hel del persilja, som vi sedan fryser in, framförallt använder vi den till att göra falafel, som vi älskar. Och jag vill ju inte att persiljan ska kvävas av allt ogräset, det vore väldigt sorgligt. Men ogräset har verkligen vuxit så det knakat denna regniga "sommar". Suck.

Shimelle is hosting this week´s challenge at Two Peas and I really liked this challenge and wanted to try my hands at it. The challenge was to do a layout with the title "Not all....are...." and fill in the blanks in what ever way you wanted. I had several idees before I settled for this one. It reads "Not all scrapbookers thrive for 3 dimensions".

Life itself is three dimensional and that´s enough for me. I like both photos and papers just the way they are, which is flat and I don´t care much for having three dimensional embellishments just for the sake of the dimesion, if they find their way to my layouts it´s because I just happen to like the way they look.

When I uplouded the photo of my layout I saw that I had forgotten a "n" in dimension, so I have to fix that, I just didn´t want to take the time to do it, take a new photo and then upload it again. I think both you and I can live with that!

Förbannad kjol

Ok, jag vet att det inte låter klokt, men jag tror att det vilar en förbannelse över en av mina kjolar! Man kanske bör veta om mig att jag alltid går klädd i kjol/klänning (byxor är något jag bara använder om det är riktigt opraktiskt med kjol, som när jag ska gräva i trädgården eller liknande). I alla fall så har jag en vardagskjol som länge nu, så fort jag sätter på mig den nytvättad, genast får fläckar på sig. Om jag ignorerar detta faktum och använder den ändå så kan jag gå med den i dagar utan att det kommer en enda ny fläck på den. Säg inte att det bara är slumpen!!!

Altering a book

So I like making books into albums. And right now I´m working on a new project, which will eventually be a gift to someone. I have documented the process and will show you the different steps here today. I will not show you the spine with the title though since it might reviel to whom it is intended....

This is how the book looked in original. At first I didn´t intend to transform it but I changed my mind. I had cut out all the old pages and removed everything expect the cover itself.

Here is the inside. I had by now glued a strip of cardstock to the inside of the spine to make it more sturdy.

Here´s the new paper I will have on the cover instead of the striped one. I´m laying it out to see if it fits ok. I have cut the corners of the paper so the leather corners ot the cover will still be shown.

And this is how it looks when the paper is glued on to the cover....

Next step was to cover the inside spine with fabric.

And now the sides is covered by coordinationg cardstock. It doesn´t show on this picture but the fabric and cardstock matches perfectly, to each other and to the patterned paper.

It´s the 10th and time for another Ten Things. Shimelle writes about ten things she likes to photograf and that could be a thing... Or maybe just ten things I like right now... Yes, that´s it! So here we go!

Sharing a good laugh with my husband. And my children.

The new front door my husband and son have been working hard to put in. We are very pleased with it. Just a little work left to do, mostly painting.

Albums

So my old family album is now finished. I stamped the years on the spine so you can easly see which years it covers. Like almost everything else I do it´s not perfect. I seldon take the time to do things scientificly!!

I bought a big old book the other week to transform into an album. I just couldn´t resist it since it´s title was so perfekt for scrapbooking. And the book itself was so beautyful, don´t you think? On the spine it reads "Händelser man minns - En krönika i ord och bild" which means "Events you remember - A chronicle in words and pictures". Isn´t that just perfect?? I´m not sure how to use it yet but it will come!

It´s been a lot of talking about not thinking that you´re "behind" when it comes to scrapbooking since it only makes you sad and I stopped thinking like that a long time ago, but I get all these ideas that I want to make real... But, I try to see them as possibilities instead of musts. There are just so much fun to do!!

Now I´m off for some breakfast and soon "ER" comes on TV. I´ve been watching it every morning for some time now and I´m hookes. It´s one of those series that still holds up. It´s really good.

A peek

I´ve been working some on my youngest son´s album this weekend and here´s some peeks into it.

I haven´t fussed much about putting a lot of embelishments in it, he doesn´t care anyhow. It´s the pictures and the stories that´s important and I want it to be bright and happy and fun to look at. He likes his album, remembering things he´s done.

There aren´t many pages left now and then I will have to start a new album for him. I think I know what I will use. I bought these office binders earlier this summer and I will use one of them for his album.

I´m not sure which one I will use yet, but not the smallest one on the left anyway. Here I will have to put in loose pages so I guess it will be more colours. But I will not have any page protectors. These binders can hold quite a lot of pages so I won´t have to worry about another album for him for a long time.

Sonen till vänner och hans fru kommer aldrig att kunna få egna barn, har jag just fått veta och det har fått mig att fundera. Nu måste de försöka få ihop ett par hundra tusen kronor för att kunna adoptera ett barn. Om det fanns barn i Sverige att adoptera så hade människor i den här situationen inte behövt betala så mycket för att få ett barn och förmodligen skulle många skaffa fler barn än vad som nu är möjligt för de flesta. Just det här unga paret kommer båda från stora familjer och önskade sig många barn själva också, men det lär inte bli verklighet för dem.

Om inte så många oönskade graviditeter slutade med abort istället för att barnet föds så skulle dessa barn istället kunna adopteras av dem som så väldigt mycket längtar efter barn. Hur kommer det sig att det i Sverige är fullt accepterat att göra abort, men inte att istället föda barnet och sedan ge det till några som inget hellre önskar än att få ett barn att älska och ta hand om? Jag tycker att abort är ett uttryck för själviskhet medan adoption är väldigt osjälviskt. Jag vill inte påstå att alla de som gör abort är själviska i sitt beslut, men det finns ett stort socialt tryck från omgivning och samhälle, som har stor påverkan. Tänk om människor kunde tänka om, livet låter sig inte alltid planeras och när vi desperat försöker få allting så ordningsamt som möjligt, så blir det ibland väldigt omänskligt.

The son of friends of ours and his wife will never be able to have children of their own, I just found out and that made me think. They now have to try to save about two hundred thousand swedish crowns (like twenty thousand punds) so they can adopt a child from abroud. If there where children to be adopted in Sweden, people in this situation wouldn´t have to pay such big sums to get children and many would probably have more children than now is possible for them. This particular couple both come from big families and had planned to have lots of children themself, that will surely not be the case now.

If not so many of the unwanted pregnansies ended with abortion in Sweden instead of the child being born, these children could instead be adopted by those who so much long for a child. How is it that in Sweden it is fully accepted to have an abortion but not to have the child and then give it to those who nothing more whishes for than a child to love and take care of? I think abortion is selfinsh and that adoption is unselfish. I dont say abortion is always a sign of selfishness but there is a great social pressure from the surrounding persons and the sociaty which has a big inpact. What if people could re-think, life will not always let itself be planned and when we desperatly try to controll everything it sometimes gets very inhuman.

Jag har i det längsta vägrat acceptera att sommaren är över och fick verkligen vatten på min kvarn i förra veckan när det var så varmt några dagar. Men den här veckan kan inte ens jag låta bli att medge att det inte precis är högsommar längre. Men jag kan väl få lov att kalla det sensommar i alla fall?!

Har lite bilder på fina saker som växer i min trädgård just nu, som man kan glädja sig över. Det är just sånt här som alla i trädgårdsprogram, -böcker och -tidningar menar när de uppmuntrar folk att tänka på att plantera saker som är fint på hösten. Man behöver verkligen det här fina vid den här tiden på året.

Ljuvliga höstanemoner! De kan ju växa och bli enorma under rätt omständigheter. Verkligen värda att odla.

Kommer inte på vad de här heter just nu. Är det stormhatt, eller?

Jaha, det var så mycket som min dator ville ladda upp. Den har varit bråkig ända sen det stora åskvädret för några dar sedan. Grr... Hade tänkt visa bilder på min långa rabatt med höstflox, en annan favorit. Och på min jordärtskocka "Bianca", som nu blommar så fint med sina gula blommor. Den blir det mer av nästa år, helt klart! En annan favorit som jag helt klart ska ha nästa år är kryddtagetes, så underbara.

Och maken gillade blommorna på purjolöken, som stod kvar sen förra året, allra mest så jag funderar på att köpa lite alliumlökar och plantera åt honom. Har redan köpt pärlhyasinter och rosa tulpanlökar för mitt eget nöje.

I´ve been taking some photos of my soon-to-be-finished album to show the different pageprotecter sizes I have used. Mostly it´s 12x12 but there are some others here and there in between.

The one to the right actually isn´t a diveded protector it´s fake!

Here I put two 12x6 pages in a 12x12 protector.

I´m not that thrilled over American Crafts divided protectors, I´d prefer tucking the photos in from the upside.

It´s Saturday but that doesn´t meen it will be a quite day, beause it won´t! But it will be a nice day I´m sure!

Blooming

I´m still working my way to get all the pages finished for my currant album, so I can put it away (from my scraproom to the livingroom, that is) and at the same time I´m working my way trough my Daisy Day papers. Lovely papers, but much to much blooming on most of them. It took me a long time to learn what I really liked when I actually scrapbooked and not buy other things just because they where beautyful. Sigh... But now I don´t buy papers with big flowers anymore, it´s just not my thing, no matter how lovely they are.

But as I have them I shall also use them!! So it´s just to do it, and I´m quite pleased with them, regarding the circumstanses. Here´s a few!

Four more pages for this album, I think, one finishing school and three Christmas pages. But no more Daisy Day´s, there´s just easier papers left and I won´t force my way through them.

Christmas?

I heard the roundtable discussion on Paperclippings and Ali Edwards were there and when she was asked what she was up to she said, with a sigh, that soon it was time to start working on her December Daily.

That made me think ever more on Christmas. I still hadn´t scrapped my photos from last christmas, since there where other photos I wanted to scrap first and I thought I should save the christmas photos till it´s getting near christmas again and I would hopefully get in the christmas spirit. BUT since my currant album is almost full and I want it to end with 2010, I kind of want it to be filled up so I can put it away and only have one album to put things in, so I decided to do them anyway. I´ve made one two page-spread from Christmas Eve, so far, and I can´t say I felt very Christmas spirited, so I really don´t know if I´m going to wait or what.

Here´s the pages anyway.

Even though I didn´t feel very inspired and didn´t put a lot of effort on them I´m quite pleased with them anyway. They totally lack style and design, but these where the photos I wanted to incorperat on the pages so I just had to do whatever I could.

When I saw Shimelles Bingocard & butterfly layout I was really inspired to use yellow, but I was sure I would not combine it with black. And here´s my page:

Ain´t life, AND scrapbooking ,strange?
This isn´t at all the page I intended to do but I happened to pull out this photo and wanted so scrap it and yellow cardstock was what looked best and suited the theme and...well, black looked good too, so there I was!

So it´s not very hard to see what I lifted from Shimells layout, is it?!

The journaling tells about how different my youngest son is from his older brothers sometimes. They wouldn´t to save their lives had put those clothes on! This is what the Starboys wear when we celebrate S:t Lucia on December 13th here in Sweden. But E was happy to be a Starboy. I like that he is so independent towards others and what they think.

The main thing I have to do now, scrapbooking ways, is to make a picture for one of the children at church with pictures of him and his family, telling, by the way I decorate it, about who he and they are. That´s always a challenge, but a fun one. Wish me luck!

When Simelle told us to do a page with that which is something we most often use, it wasn´t very difficult to choose, just do a layout with multiple photos, letterstickers and journaling labels. Because when I do layouts about my family it´s always lots of photos, it has to be since there´s so many of us!! And all about letters, numbers and writing is my favorite thing when scrapping.

So here´s my page.

It´s my husband and our youngest son after the school breaking-up cermony in 2009. The title says "Father & son". Mostly things from October Afternoon on it, since they are my favorite scrapbooking company.

I love summerphotos with all this lovely green. They don´t need much help to look faboules on a page. Putting to much around them can easily bring them down and that´s a pitty.

I´m not sure I will do any more layouts for Shimelle´s week-end scrap. Maybe the "I love.." challenge. We´ll see.

I just want to thank everyone who´s been here on my blog looking at my layouts and thank you for your kind comments, they sure have warmed my heart!

Retro me

I knew that finding some photos for a retro page wouldn´t be so hard and I found these photos from the baby shower that was help for me when I expected my first child, 28 years ago, and that´s something that´s never been scrapped before so that´s a very good reason to use them now.

Here´s what I came up with.

Soon it´s time for a baby shower for my daughter, who was the one residing inside my belly at that time, so it will kind of be full circle.

It´s sad that I never had the chance to be on my second daughters babyshower, but she lived in Canada when she had her first child and five hours away when she had her second one. Maybe I will get another chance some day....

Is it cheating entering the same layout in two challenges?

I was working on the grid challenge and had cut my photos, when I looked a little closer on the photos and found both red and aqua in them. I didn´t mean to enter the red, white and aqua challenge, since that didn´t seam to be "me" at all, but now I sat there with these photos cut for the grid and saw this colours, so what could I do?! It just happend to be two-in-one. So I changed the green cardstock to a white one and there I was!

And here´s the result.

Sticker love

Shimelle´s stickery challenge is definatly something for me since I LOOVE stickers. And like Shimelle I´ve always loved them, used to stick a lot on my letters that I used to write a lot. Nowadays I stick them on almost every layout. But this challenge was to have stickers from different collections. And I have this one to show you.

I hope it´s not cheating to show an old layout... Here I have stickers, letters and journaling labels, from Provo Craft (the red letters and they´re REALLY old), Cosmo Cricket (yellow letters), Jenni Bowlin (red label), October Afternoon ( the "&" and date stickers) and the red felt letters I don´t remember who did them.

Maybe I should say something about the layout. I made it in the winter when I was longing so badly for spring. It shows my feeling about winter (dislike) and spring (like).

Well, that´s my contribution for this challenge.

It´s about the fact that my oldest daughter and her husband is expecting their first child.

Min egen bok

Allt prat om smashbooks som var för ett tag sedan inspirerade mig till att göra något som egentligen inte alls har något med en smashbook att göra mer än spiralbindningen! Det blev en bok/album med lite olika innehåll som jag inte riktigt vet vad jag kommer att skriva i, men jag smalar lite idéer, så får vi se. Så här ser den ut i orginaltappning.

Vita sidor och ett par olika sorters plastfickor, nerklippta till lämplig storlek. Ser kanske inte så mycket ut för världen just nu, men vänta bara, har stora planer för den! Och allt medan jag dekorerar den så kommer kanske idéer om vad jag vill dokumentera i den.

Här är en liten hög med papper som jag samlat, som kan tänkas bli trevliga i den.

My 10

Shimelle wanted us to show our ten whatever we choose. And I chose ten photos from my Summer of 2011 file and here they are.

My sweet boy learned to swim this summer and that is a very good thing. And he is very happy about it and very proud of himself.

We saved 10 chickens from an egg farm. When they are not so productive anymore it´s death, but these ten are now having a wonderful life. And that is good. And we get a lot of very tasty eggs.

My husband has cleaned the facing on the house and what a difference! It looks like another house. Very good endeed.

Picking cherries from your very own tree is absolutly wonderful! And we´ve gotten a lot of cherries this year and they tasted so good.

My oldest daughter is expecting her first child and that is such a happy thing since she´s wanted to become a mom for such a long time. It makes me SO happy.

Sitting ouside eating in the sun, enjoying summer with your loved ones, that is a memory to treasure when winter is here.

Getting a new cat that we love and who loves being in our family is happines, seeing how he enjoys his life here.

Fantasy. My boy at play, full of this imagination inside of him.

Second hand finds that you love is very nice. Like this tin that I love for which I payed just a pund! Great!!

Living in such a lovely place. Here I feel peace and happiness. I am so grateful for that.

Me. I like being me. I like being with myself even if I´m not perfect, but I´m working on it!

Nya kuddar

Man kan aldrig få för många kuddar! Tja, jag vet inte om jag egentligen tycker det, ibland ser man bilder i tidningar på soffor som är så fulla med kuddar att man skulle vara tvungen att plocka bort hälften för att kunna få plats att sitta! Visst det ser snyggt ut, men ändå, soffan är väl i första hand till för att människor ska sitta i den. Åtminstone är det min naiva tanke. Men så är inte heller mitt hus till för syns skull utan för människorna som bor i och besöker det.

Och nu var det så att en av dessa människor som bor här tyckte att vi har för lite kuddar i sofforna! De räcker inte till för allas bekvämlighet, med kuddar bakom ryggen, under huvudet osv. Så nu har det kommit tre nya kuddar i alla fall och de ser ut så här:

Båda tygerna är köpta på second hand. Det blommiga var ett påslakan, som jag är ganska säker på är från IKEA. När jag hittade det gröna blev jag urlycklig, det är inte lätt att hitta snygga grön/vitrutiga tyger kan jag tala om! Och sådana kan man aldrig få för många av. Åtminstone en grön kudde till ska det bli, är planen.

Medan jag nu är inne på temat sömnad så måste jag ju visa det fullkomligt ljuvliga lilla lapptäcke äldsta dottern har sytt. Hon är så otroligt begåvad vad gäller färgkombinationer och det här är nog det vackraste täcket jag sett. Döm själva!

Liksom jag föredrar hon att använda gamla tyger och ha många olika tyger i ett täcke så att det blir levande och ser ut som de ursprungliga lapptäckena, som man sydde av diverse gamla kläder mm och inte som de moderna där man använder en kollektion tyger som är perfekt matchade. Visst det är väl snyggt på sitt sätt, men...

Idag ska jag och döttrarna in till stora staden och handla och vädret verkar vara med oss, för om prognoserna stämmer så ska det inte regna idag, så vi hoppas på det!

I´ve now finished all my journaling pages. That is, I haven´t written anything yet, but all the crafting stuff is made. All the lines are machine stitched. Here they are.

This is the page talking about the whole week, to sit by the title page. To talk about such things that was common for the whole week.

I want all the journaling pages for all the days to be on a left side so when I have more photos than what will fit on the right hand side I will put in smaller pages in between, I will probably cut down the page protectors from the album to smaller sizes. Except for Sunday where I have much more photos. I got my photos yesterday, by the way.

I´ve ordered my photos but am still waiting for them, so in the meanwhile I work on the non-photo pages. I have two photos to show you, one of my title page and one of the banners I will have on each of the journaling pages. Here´s how they look.

I´m so very pleased with this page. The "week-in-the-life" journaling card I´ve had for a long time and I really, really like it so I´ve never had the heart to use it, until now, it´s just perfect for this page. So I´m very pleased that I´ve keeped it all this time.

Monday´s at the top and the other days in order under it. I had great fun making all of them. I´ve come a little longer on the journaling pages but I´ll show them when they´re finished.

Week in the life - Sunday

So now it´s over, the photo taking that is, and I just have to figure out how to put it all together. There is a thought in my mind about that, let´s just see if it will be like that in the end.

I think I will use a 11"x8 1/2" album that I have, I really like that format. I´ve ordered my photos, but I´m not sure I will actually use all of them, but we´ll see. I will start putting the album together even if I don´t have the photos yet, but I know which ones I will use for all days but Sunday. Took much more photos yesterday than the other days.

Anyway, here´s some of my Sunday photos.

Week in the life - Saturday

So this is the only day left, Sunday. Can´t believe it´s almost over. And I who don´t have a clue what to do now. I jump on this project so sudden and had no ideas about putting the whole thing together. And all week I´ve been so caught up in taking pictures and really haven´t given any thoughts as to how to scrap this whole adventure. so that will be interesting. Maybe it will solve itself when I´ve gotten the pictures developed.

Week in the life - Friday

Five days down and just two to go, I never thought it would go so fast!Today I hope I will get some of those "going-to-the-shop" photos I forgot Thursday... Anyway, here´s my Friday photos.

My two youngest watching TV in the morning. Summer break is still here for a couple of weeks.

Folded laudry... I alway emuse myself by listening to a CD-book while I do this kind of things...

...or watch a movie on the old TV I have in my craft room/guest room. This is my retreat, where I can be alone when the whole house is full of people. I love it.

My youngest daughter took a walk and found a big branch of redcurrant just lying by the road! So she took it home, riped of the berries and we will make a lovely cake with them today. Mmmm...

The big son mowing the lawn in all the strange places, like under the staging. We´ve put a new roof on the house and are now cleaning the house and there will be some paiting too and then we can take it down.

Week in the life - Thursday

Most of my photos for this day was about the cats hunting, he brought several mice into the house, dead and alive!

I took the youngest daughter to the dentist. BUT I forgot to take pictures both at the gas station and the supermarket, really irritating, since that is two places I go to a lot. Hm.

I did a layout too, about how my youngest daughter called her oldest sister "mommy" when she was little. My big girl, who was 16 when her sister was born, took so much care of the little one that she thought she had two mummys. And when Sarah said "my name is Sarah!", the little one said "mummy!!" So cute.

The daughters came home after spending two weeks with one of their older sisters and her family.

And while I was doing that, Kit-Kat showed his true male nature getting control over the remote control!! This piture actually is a faked one. He did put his paw on the control, but the camera wasn´t there and when it had been fetched he had changed his position, so we staged it. You´re allowed to do that, right? It was such a funny thing I just had to have a photo of that.

It was such a lovely evening, and everyone was home again, so I thought it would be nice to eat outside. We ate woffles and I made them right there: Nice. The yougest daughter took the photos, that´s why she´s not in the pictures.

She snapped one of ther little brother playing too.

I don´t like living my life behind the camera and I know pretty well what I want to document, so I don´t take much photos. I don´t need photos of everything to tell the story either. So i`m a little different there. But here´s a few photos from yesterday.

Ali Edwards gör ju varje år ett Week ot the life-album. Hon dokumenterar vad som händer under en vecka, stort som smått. I år är det just denna veckan hon gör det. Eftersom veckan i USA börjar med söndagen så började hon igår.

Idag såg jag att hon i år samarbetar med Big Picture Scrapbooking så att alla som är med kan lägga upp sina bidrag där. Har tyckt att det låter rätt trevligt att dokumentera en hel vecka i familjens liv, men tänkt att det nog bara skulle rinna ut i sanden efter några dagar, men i år har jag bestämt mig för att göra det! Men efter som vår vecka börjar med måndagen så börjar jag förstås där, dvs idag. Så lycka till mig själv!

En del föredrar att göra en annan vecka än den Ali gör, för att det ska hända lite mer t ex, men jag vill helst dokumentera en ganska ordinär vecka, det är ju trots allt det som livet mest består av.

Här är en av dagens bilder, som visar något av det roligaste jag gör idag! Hur det hela kommer att se ut när det är färdigt har jag ingen aning om. Ali själv använder den här veckan till att dokumentera, genom bilder, anteckningar och samlande av diverse minnessaker, och sedan sätter hon ihop alltihop nästa veckan, förmodligen klokt.

Vår lilla resa är slut och mitt lilla album är färdigt och så här blev det.

Satte in tre extra små blad med bilder på oss i bilen. Kanske kommer jag att skriva något på dem, har inte bestämt mig än.

Skrev ut de små fotona hemma, ville ju har klart albumet meddetsamma, det blir aldrig riktigt samma sak att göra det veckor eller månader senare.

Sysselsättning

Tre timmars resa kan behöva lite sysselsättning och då är ett handsömnadsprojekt perfekt. Jag håller långsamt, allt efter när andan faller på, att sy block till ett stort lapptäcke till vår säng. Gör en hel del olika sorters block av en hel uppsjö av tyg som jag har småbitar liggande av, ja en del större tygbitar används också.

Har nu klippt ut bitar till två block som jag ska ta med mig på resan.

Det här ska bli ett pinwheel-block. Tänk er att man syr ihop fyra sådana här och sedan syr ihop dem i sin tur så att resultatet nästan ser ut som en såndär snurra om småbarn ibland har.

De här bitarna ska bli en stockhusruta, med den röda biten i mitten och de andra sydda runt om, som stockarna i ett stockhus. Mitten ska traditionellt vara röd eftersom den representerar elden i huset, som syns genom skorstenen.

Jag älskar stt sy för hand! Dels tycker jag om själva hantverket och dels är det så praktiskt att ta med sig var helst man är.

Resa

Vi ska åka på en liten resa för att hälsa på äldsta dottern och hennes man och för att dokumentera det hela har jag gjort ett litet minialbum. Har gjort det av ett chipboard album (minns inte riktigt, men det skulle kunna vara från Maya Road) som jag haft liggande länge. Har målat det med akrylfärg för att få rätt bakgrund till de dekorationer jag valt. Sidorna satt fast med en kedja i orginal, men jag föredrar en ring och den här, vars färg jag inte är så förtjust i, passade perfekt till framsidans papper, så då får jag använt den! Framsidan är färdig och ser ut så här.

Den där " A family is a patchwork of love"-tagen är jag väldigt förtjust i, eftersom den kombinerar två av mina passioner, min familj och lapptäcken, och har undrat var jag skulle kunna använda den, men när jag så började det här projektet så visst jag direkt att det här var perfekt. Ena anledningen är att dotterns största hobby är sömnad och den andra att jag även tänker ta med mig lite lapptäckssömnad på resan.

Har gjort ett par andra sidor halvt om halvt, men det mesta föredrar jag att göra i stunden, så att det passar med vad vi gör. Jag älskar att ha sådana här små projekt med mig så att jag kan få mig en dos scrapbooking även när jag är borta och särskilt journalingen blir ju mitt i livet då. Foton kan man ju sätta dit senare.

Förutom själva albumet har jag med mig en vanlig mindre sax, Panduros fantastiska siluettsax, lim, två alfabeten och lite olika dekorationer. Ska bli jättekul att arbeta med det här.

Sol över min trädgård

Ja, tyvärr så skiner inte den riktiga solen idag, men jag har en alldeles egen liten sol som är så här vacker.

Jag älskar solrosor! Tyvärr är jag inte så bra på att odla dem, i år blev det bara tre stycken av alla de fröer jag sådde och det här är den första som blommar. Men jag får glädja mig över det som faktiskt är istället för att sörja det som inte är och med ett foto på den här skönheten så kan jag göra som japanerna, som fotograferar så mycket när de reser någonstans att de knappt hinner uppleva något, med tanken att med fotonas hjälp kan jag uppleva det för all framtid.

Hm, jag vet inte jag om det är en inställning som jag helt håller med om, i så fall behöver man ju aldrig uppleva något, bara titta på bilder och föreställa sig. Men om det funkar för dem så...

Jag har i alla fall denna ljuvliga blomma i min trädgård nu och kan hela vintern minnas det.

Annars måste jag säga att tagetesen är min absoluta favorotblomma i år. Kanske är det nyhetens behag, det är första gången jag sått den, men jag lovar inte sista.

Tog ett nytt foto på min rabatt, utan skugga...och ett på krassen utanför mitt växthus.

När jag nu ändå pratar trädgård och odling, så måste jag bara komma med ett tips. Jag har planterar jordärtskockor för första gången och fick väl blodad tand för att prova på nytt, för jag sådde också trädgårdsportlak och det är så gott!!

De grodde jättebra och då i maj när det blev så varmt planterade jag ut dem, men när sedan kylan och regnet ersatte solen och värmen så blev de jätteledsna, så det fick bli en räddningsaktion - alla sattes i krukor igen och fick bo i växthuset. Där blev de genst på bättre humör och växer nu så det knakar. Så här ser de ut.

De är lite fetbladiga och smakar lite syrligt. Jag äter dem som godis, men de är goda i en sallad eller ensamma istället för sallad till mat och kan säkert vara goda i en kall sås. De är den växt som innehåller mest omega-3 och enligt en artikel i Föreningen Svensk Trädgårs tidning Hemtädgården så är den nyttig på en massa nadra sätt med. Rekommenderas starkt!

Trädgårdsliv

Idag är det inte så roligt väder. Regn och blåst. Perfekt väder att låta katten gå ut för första gången här hos oss! Hade det varit strålande sol hade han kanske stannat borta länge och inte hittat vägen hem. Här är han vid sitt första möte med vår trädgård.

Han var ute en liten stund och kom sedan in igen. När han sedan ville ut igen stod grannens katt på trappan och han vände med ett tjut och försvann in fortare än kvickt!

Det blommar så här fint i en av mina rabatter. De här blommerna gör mig glad, ringblommor och kryddtagetes. Jag gillar blommor i orange och gult, sådana där färger som en del folk inte alls gillar och vägra släppa in i sina trädgårdar. Det kan jag inte alls förstå, jag blir glad av de här färgerna.

Och jag som tyckte att jag ställde mig så att skuggan inte kom med...

Recension

Vi har gäster på besök några dagar och det är väldigt trevligt. Men man vill ju inte sitta framför datorn och uggla då, så därför kom det ingenting om vad jag tyckte om nya Harry Potter- filmen i går. Men nu har jag stigit upp lite tidigare än de andra och ska nu ge mitt omdöme om den.

Måste börja med att säga att den, förstås, var bra. Men kan inte låta bli att tycka att det var lite väl mycket action för min smak. Jag gillar ju långsamt tempo och älskar den första delen jättemycket. All denna action gör att de andra scenerna, som ju finns där insprängda, inte riktigt får den lugn och ro man skulle vilja ha till dem eftersom de försvinner för fort och så är man tillbaka på slagfältet.

Jag grät inte mycket trots alla förluster, det var mest bara en stor, mörk sorg som sänkte sig över mig, på grund av dem. Grät gjorde jag först när Harry tog fram uppståndelsestenen och alla de älskade, men förlorade, människorna, trädda fram för honom, det var otroligt gripande. Och allra sist, vid sista scenen, när man såg de tre vännerna stå på perongen och titta efter Hogwartsexpressen, som förde iväg deras barn, så drabbades jag för en kort stund av den omtalade Nu-är-det-slut-sorgen.

Men man kan ju komma tillbaka gång på gång för att besöka dem och om man inte tycker att det är tillräckligt så kan man ju glädja sig över att J K Rowling kommer att starta en ny hemsida, som kommer att öppna i oktober, och vars namn är http://www.pottermore.com/. Där kommer det att finnas en del roligheter, vet inte så mycket ännu, men tydligen kommer hon själv att berätta sånt där som hon hållit på i alla år, om vad som händer utöver det vi kan läsa. Det ska bli roligt.

Tyvärr var det regnigt igår och därför inte så roligt att vara ute så det blev inte några storartade aktiviteter med gästerna, men var på thairestaurang och på loppis. Lite väl dyrt, men jag hittade den här lilla boken som jag genast förälskade mig i.

Den var alldeles för dyr så maken fick betala och kunde då pruta ner på priset! Jag själv är värdelös på att pruta, skulle inte ens få för mig att försöka... Är alldeles för mesig.

Självklart kommer den här att bli till ett omslag på någon liten scrapbook vad det lider. Men eftersom omslaget är så väldigt vackert får det nog allt bli något väldigt speciellt av den.

Jag har ett lite resealbum att visa er, som jag nyligen gjort om två långa tågresor som jag och barnen gjorde förra sommaren. Här är lite bilder på det.

Maken undrade, när han såg min Sverige-stämpel en gång, vad i all världen jag skulle använda den till, men just till sånt här är det jättekul. När jag såg den här stämpeln i nån av alla de online-butiker som finns där ute så var den verkligen ett måste, en sån där som man defintivt vet att man kommer att använda gång på gång. Jag älskar kartor.

Idag tänkte jag komma med ett filmtips. Hade länge gått och klurat på om jag skulle köpa filmen "Dear John", som Lasse Hallström regisserat, men inte kunnat bestämma mig. Jag gillar inte att lägga pengar på något som jag kanske inte gillar, men det lät som en historia som jag skulle tycka om...

Så i förra veckan såg jag att man fick den på köpet tillsammans med ett magasin och då slog jag till. Tidningen var jag inte intresserad av, så den åkte i första bästa papperskorg, men filmen var jag lycklig över.

Så vad tyckte jag då om filmen? Jo,den var väldigt bra. En lagom blandning av lyckligt och smärtsamt. Den är efter en roman av Nicholas Sparks och nu har jag ju blivit sugen på att läsa boken. När jag kikade efter den såg jag att han skrivit massor av böcker, inkl "Message in a bottle", som också blivit film, med bl a Kevin Costner och Paul Newman, och som också är en väldigt bra film. Den är samma blandning av lycka och smärta, lite mer smärta än "Dear John" dock.

Har redan hunnit se filmen flera gånger, vilket är typiskt mig, när jag gillar något.

På väggen

Det är trevligt att ha saker som betyder något för en, både som vanliga prydnader och på väggen. Mina senaste alster är några nya tavlor, bl a med både foton och familjeuppteckningar. Tyvärr är det svårt att fotografera tavlor utan att det blir blänk och den stora var jag tvungen att ta kort på i nästan mörker för att det inte skulle bli en spegling av mig själv i den, så därför blev den lite mörk.

Det här är över min släkt, mina far- och morföräldrar och min familj när jag och min bror var små. Inga foton är orginal, förstås. Papperna är en serie som heter For the record, där det finns en massa olika varianter. Jag köpte mina från Stellas, men om de finns kvar där vet jag inte, men de finns hos amerikanska Scrapbook.com också.

Blev väldigt nöjd med hur det blev.

De två till vänster har jag haft i flera år men den till höger är ny. Gjord med två favoritfoton på mig sjäv och min dotter som dog för sex år sedan.

Hade inga egentliga tankar om hur jag skulle göra den utan när jag satt där och kollade bland mina saker så hittade jag denna chip board som säger "smile" och tyckte att den passade, dels för att vi ser så glada ut på bilderna och dels för att jag varje dag är tacksam för att hon inte behöver bära de tunga bördorna av sjukdom längre och för att jag vet att vi kommer att träffas igen.

Lite bittersött eftersom jag saknar min flicka och längtar tills jag får träffa henne igen. Det syns inte så bra men precis vid blänket sitter det ett hjärta, vars betydelse inte behöver förklaras...

Just nu kretsar mycket i vårt hem omkring den här lille vännen som flyttade hem till oss igår.

Han bodde hos Djurens Vänner i Göteborg där vi hämtade honom. Visst är han söt?
Vi är väldigt glada för att han verkar trivas så bra hos oss. Han är så kelen och spinner och njuter när man klappar honom. Just nu måste han stanna inomhus så att han lär sig att det är här han hör hemma, men han är väldigt nyfiken på världen där utanför och vi hoppas att han kommer att vara en bra jägare som kan hålla efter mullvadarna som envisas med att göra gångar i odlingsbäddarna...

Ikväll är det premiär på en viss efterlängtad film!
Den ska jag se i morgon - jippi!! Jag är ett stort Harry Potter-fan.

Nya tag

Efter flera månaders uppehåll från bloggandet så tänkte jag försöka få igång mig själv igen. Startade en trädgårdsblogg efter att det stannat till här, som jag höll igång ett tag, innan det blev alldeles för mycket som snurrade omkring mig med allt som händer när det är sommar. Nu tänkte jag att jag ska blogga om allt möjligt här och göra det på svenska. Det känns inspirerade, så jag hoppas att vi ses!

Spring is here and I´m out working in the garden every day, so there really isn´t any energy left for scrapbooking right now. But I will show you one of my old layouts, about my quilting.

This is two wall hangings I made for Miss E and Miss I as Christmas presents in 2005. They were so much fun to do. On the layout I call them Gifts of love.

Here´s another one.

It´s about the first big quilt that I finished. I got the patterned paper with the quilt pattern from I good friend. Here´s a better photo of the quilt.

I was inspired by a quilt made by an english lady, which I saw in a magazine. The stiching around the hearts was inspired by another quilt I saw in another magazine.

Here´s the layout I made that really isn´t my style.

Miss I arranged a congregation a cople of sundays last year, using all her stuffed animals, before we went to church, so they could have their own meeting! I had to document that! She likes the layout. I used up some things I bought some years ago and never really liked, yahe! And the patterned paper is a backside that I really never notisted before.

Today my sweet Master E turns 7 and pancakes and brownie is ordered! Bye!

Finally

Finally I got it done, the layout I had problems with. Sometimes when it something that really means something special to you, it´s hard to make it because often you can´t put down on paper how you see it in your head. That´s what happend with this one.

This is a lot of not so good photos, but ones that mean a lot. It´s when all the children, including son-in-law and grandchildren, where here at the same time, which always are such special occations. I love seeing them all enjoying each others company, loving each other. It surely makes this mother´s heart sing.

A simple border under the photos, a title that´s a big part of the decorations and a lot of little this and that - voilá, a typical Monica layout! I made a not at all typical Monica layout yesterday, I´ll show it to you another day.

Blogging is addicting... I´ve started another blogg. It´s on a swedish garden site, talking about my garden and what I do out there. Something I will only do this time of year when there is actually something to do, all winter it´s just full of snow!

Promises

Yesterday was such a lovely day and me and Mr A was out working in the garden. That is so much fun. He was working on more places to grow vegetables and I was just tidying up around the yard. Looks much nicer now. Removed a lot of branches and leaves. I brought out the camera and took some photos and here´s what´s gives promises of spring.

Here´s a layout I made a couple of weeks ago, about how much Mr A enjoys growing eatable things. I like the title with the letters in different papers. The background paper is a really old one from Provo Crafts. I´ve had it for more than ten years!

I´ve been having a dubble layout lying on my desk for days now and I kind of got stuck with it, I haven´t got the right feeling for what to do with it yet and that stopped my whole scrapbooking. Hope to be able to finish it this afternoon or do something else, since it´s sabbathday and I won´t be working in the garden. I keep my fingers crossed!

Weekend

The birds are singing outside and almost all the snow is gone in our garden and I even heard and saw a flock of geese flying by yesterday. That is so lovely.

I´ve had a good weekend. Did some baking on Saturday, donuts and cupcakes, which was very much apreciated. And yesterday was general conferens for the church and we watch and listened to so much good and wise advise from the church leaders. Wonderful.

And I´ve made som scrapbooking too! Here´s one of the layouts I did.

It´s about our trip to the medival fair that was held in the fortress in Varberg on the swedish west coast. Miss S vas going there with her medival group for the whole weekend and the rest of us went there on the Saturday. Master E was in a soldier school and he and the other children won the "fight" they had against the grown ups - big susprise... He also bought himself a new wooden sword. We watched a tourney and we was inside the museum and saw, among a lot of other things, Bockstensmannen, the remains of a man from the medivals that was found in a moss.

We had a nice day, but it was very hot and there was a lot of people. So sitting down in the shadow and having an icecream was lovely!

Bragbook finished

My bragbook is finished! Well, all but a photo of Mr T, but I don´t have one at the moment. I´m very pleased with it indeed. Here it is.

Since I had more pages than persons I put in some photos of our home and the garden too. And the last page is an old rhyme that you say when you´ve finished a story, saying just that, that the story is ended, but I changed "story" to "braging"!

Spring actually seems to be coming! And that is truely wonderful. Have a good day!

Remembering

When Mrs S started studying away from her hometown a year ago we took care of her cat. This is the layout I made about the cat then.

Three days ago our naboure came and told us our sweet little cat had been killed by a car. That was very sad, I didn´t know I would miss him so much. I made this remembering page about him, with memories of some sweet things he used to do.

Going back to the good film I´m watching, Return with honor, and let Miss E get the computer again... Have a nice Sunday!

Travelling project

Mr A and I went to the temple in Stockholm Thursday to Saturday and I brought my bragbook and some things from October Afternoon, Crate, Sassafrass and Studio Calico to be able to be a little creative on the way. It´s not ready, but a few pages is on their way and I have a quite clear view of how I want all of the pages to look.

Here´s a few pictures of it so far.

This is obviousely the title page. It makes me so happy when every now and then you just have the thing that is perfect for a sertain project that you had no idee you would do when you bought the thing. This is such an occation, I really love this tag here.

The left side is for Mr A, the lightbulb is perfect because he always has a lot of idees. On the right it will be about him and me.

This is for Mrs S and her family. The idee is to have her on the left and her family on the right, including the family name. and I will do the same with Mrs L, but I´m not really sure about those pages yet.

This is for Miss angel V and Miss E. Like the others I´ve done so far they are not yet complete, and I don´t mean the photos that is missing. That´s as far as i´ve done so far, this is a really fun project!
